Scott Sommer is a two–time Westminster Best In Show Winner and world-renowned all breed professional dog handler. He’s ready to teach you the skills and tips that will help you in the show ring!

Scott will provide two days of hands-on instruction - this workshop will benefit the beginner up to the advanced groomer and handler.

Saturday, August 27, 2016, from 10am to 5pm:
Scott will focus on grooming – scissoring, stripping, and conditioning, and how to make the most of your dog’s strengths

Sunday, August 28, 2016, from 9am to 4:30pm:
Scott will focus on handling – how to show the judge the best qualities of your dog and strategies to succeed in the show ring

Advanced Handling will be from 9am - 12:30pm
Novice Handling will be from 1pm - 4:30pm

Handlers are encouraged to observe the module they are not attending (no charge added)

Monday, August 29th, from 8am to 12pm:
A limited number of private sessions will be available on Monday morning. Please call us at 972-436-3400 or email at train@dfwdogquest.com to schedule an appointment.

Pricing for Working Students: The cost of the two-day workshop is $200. Grooming Workshop for working students is $130. Handling Workshop for working students is $80. All workshops must be prepaid to secure your reservation.

Pricing for Observers: The cost of the two-day workshop for Observers is $130. Grooming Workshop for Observers is $65, and Handling Workshop for Observers is $65. All workshops must be prepaid to secure your reservation.

Pricing for Private Sessions: $80 for 60 minutes and $40 for 30 minutes. Private sessions must be prepaid to secure your reservation.

Cancellation Policy: If you need to cancel, please let us know as soon as possible. Refunds will only be offered if your spot can be filled from waiting list.

Facility: Bring your own grooming table, arm, and grooming tools for the Grooming Workshop as well as your own crate. Dogs must be washed and dried prior to the workshop – there will be no bathing on site. Crating space is available. You must bring a mat or floor cover to go underneath your grooming table, crate, and chair to help protect our mats. Chairs will be available or bring your own. Please use designated potty areas and clean up after your dog, inside and outside.

Food: Light breakfast, beverages, and light snacks will be provided. Lunch will be provided, or there are plenty of restaurant options in the area. We will break for lunch for an hour each day.

Videotaping: Only limited videotaping will be permitted. You may also tape your own session ONLY, with your own equipment (but not lecture portions or other peoples’ working sessions, without their permission).

Motels that accept dogs: May require dog deposits. Please check on dog policies as they do change. Please clean up after your dog and do not leave dogs unattended in motel rooms. We are guests in their space and need to make certain that dogs are always welcome at their facilities.
